Yoga can help keep the body supple, strong and comfortable. It teaches body awareness and correct alignment. It helps remove physical and mental stress and tension. It helps keep the energy open, flowing and sparkling. It helps take the awareness out of the head and into the body and soul; this makes it different from other forms of physical exercise and is the main reason why we practise. As a result, it tends to deepen your experience of yourself and of life.

Breathing

I put a lot of emphasis on learning to use the breath. I find, in general, we don’t breathe fully or deeply enough, so we are closed to all of the healing benefits that breathing techniques can bring. It’s really simple to do and is powerfully calming, relaxing, nourishing and sensual. Group classes vary each week, may include music, and always end in a proper savasana with blankets and eye pillows. I am trained in Iyengar style yoga and ashtanga and classes are a blend of these styles to suit the group. Beginners and those who consider themselves inflexible are always welcome.
